I don't know that associates have as much leverage as you may think to push back. However, if my assistant so much as tells me she's not sure she can get something done I have to take on the responsibility of doing the thing myself (if we're at a deadline) because I'm the one with a law license who ultimately has the responsibility to make sure it happens. If she calls in sick, I have to find a way to get all the things done without her. Maybe my approach is different than others' though.
Another example of why I hate buzzwords. There is only so much 2 hands can do in a day.
I've learned to use the phrase ... when do you realistically need this by ... when things get heavy.
I know I love my paralegal and the thought of her leaving terrifies me. I would be responsive if she told me she was feeling burnt out. At least, know some attorneys would hear you!
They’ll notice sloppy work, not so much as lackluster training. Do the jobs you need to do well, well, and just let the trainee shadow you. And tell him not to talk. 🤣

lol we don’t have leverage either
