It’s ego. New leaders want credit for the plan, not the execution. You could hand them gold and they’d still ask for glitter.
The word "incremental" here gives a lot of indication of the SVP's intentions. I read this as, "this is not revolutionary enough." Or, "I need a big win." Most likely the SVP has been challenged to make a big impact quickly. Or, they've elected to make a big change based on ego. Either way, as hard as it is, don't take it personally. Use it as an opportunity to show you've done your homework and understand the data behind your decisions and recommendations, to be a valuable resource. But keep a copy of the work you've done to look back at it a year from now to see if you were on the right track or if the SVP was able to polish it into something better.
