There is no doubt that pre-Covid when everyone worked together in person allowed for deeper mentorship opportunities and a way of learning a job and working with colleagues that was far superior. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not being honest. I can tell you lots of stories about relationships built and valuable lessons learned back then, but it's a blank now that the connections are clearly so superficial. And team members not bothering to turn their camera on during a meeting is the least of it. Careers should be more than just getting a list of tasks done in a day.

The lack of confidence you’re feeling might actually be a good sign. Most of us olds were nervous wrecks when we started, afraid we were going to humiliate ourselves in meetings, or say the wrong thing to the CEO in the elevator. And most of us did, many times, but that’s how we grow and learn.

You’ll get there friend. Yes, starting during Covid made your start harder, but that doesn’t mean you won’t catch right up over time. Ask a lot of questions, a good manager will appreciate you asking the things to show you’re actively trying to fill the gaps. You got this.
