My experience is that people call if they like the resume. Then, the first question they ask is if you are authorized to work without sponsorship
Put it on the top of your resume, under your name. My HR Team (in industry) definitely screens out resumes where all of the employment history and school information is from another country because sponsoring H1B is super difficult. And it’s not illegal or discriminatory to screen resumes this way.

D1, how is that not violating the equal opportunity clause ? You are discriminating based on national origin by assuming that if someone is educated elsewhere and has work history outside the US, they must be on H1B . Only reason you can do that if your job requirement explicitly states that a candidate must have most or all of their experience in the US
You either don’t know your company’s process or your company is violating EEO
I think when you fill out the application anywhere, they always include this question.
I do not think they look at your background and determine that!

Put it in a line under your name. I have 3 things - 2 contact details and my work status, e.g. US permanent resident
Yep put it up top. Companies have a spot on the application but so many people confuse that with temporary authorization that recruiters filter those resumes out anyway. Saying you have a GC on your resume will help it stay in the pile
Are things *really bad* for those on H1B and seeking an exit ?
Find out which ones have sponsored in the recent past
Why do you think there's doubts? Due to your name, past work locations, etc?
Hmm I see. Well it's discrimination to use those against you but if you feel like you want to get a head of it. Here's an example that might help: https://resumeworded.com/blog/citizenship-on-resume/

All major firms have that question in the application

Thousands of people work in the US on visas, many for decades. What that indicates is that US employers do hire people who need visas. And as such, if your resume fits the bill you'll get shortlisted. You can always put, somewhere next to your name/contact details on your resume, something along the lines of : "GC holder/US Citizen". That may help in scenarios where a biased recruiter may want to scroll past your resume assuming you need sponsorship since your resume contains non-US credentials
I don’t think you need to put it on your resume tbh. They typically ask on HR screening calls and there’s a space in most applications for that question
All you need to do is tailor your resume to the jobs you're applying for, your residency has nothing to do with you getting called and as such should not be on your resume.
It certainly does
