However, in the last 10 minutes of the interview, the interviewer asked about my salary and seemed to get offended when he found out I was earning 20LPA with six years of experience. He questioned how I could be earning that much and asked me to list my salary progression from my 1st organization till now. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. I’m an L&E associate entering my 5th year at a mid-sized regional law firm (approx. 400 attorneys). Barred in PA/NJ. Billed 2100 last year but my requirement is 1950. Should I try to lateral into BigLaw or should I try to go in house? Are either of those realistic options for me? I seem to be doing a significant amount of municipal law too, which is not what I expected or wanted at all. I want a life but would also hate to take a pay cut. Interested in L&E. Advice?

Target Bonus: 10% ($16,650)
RSU: 120k total (30k/yr)

When my recruiter says I’ll have “144 hours” of PTO (18 days), will I definitely still run into the utilization trap of not being able to take it? Are all projects 40-42 hr weekly caps?
