Also please do proper research before commenting about layoffs.

I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

I too was laid off this year. I choose to see it different. I am a victor. Never had I ever had anything taken away from me not replaced by better then the loss. I will find another job, this is not the end, one day at a time. Everyday I’m above water (everyday so far) is a blessing. The experience is and will be the experience. Trust that you have inside of you already what’s needed to overcome this rough patch. We shall overcome. Happy Thanksgiving. ❤️
Our day is coming. All we need is ONE yes.
Being laid off is always a shock, and it's natural to go through a flood of emotions. One bit of practical advice would be to make sure you get your unemployment claim in right away. Depending on where you live, the process can be complicated and take a while, so the sooner you get that squared away the better. Don't hesitate, having that money coming in will be very important. Beyond that, sorry to hear what you're going through. Just stay persistent, things are bound to turn around. Let's hope for a much better new year.
Thank you.
I'm super sorry to hear about the layoff. It's really scary. I was let go a few months ago and I'm still looking for work, but I'm hopeful we will both find something.
Thank you. I pray and you I and anyone else in the same boat find something soon. Best of luck to you as well.
Me too! I took a temp seasonal job to just get by
Thank you. I’ll have to reach out to temp agencies as well.

Sending you so much compassion, this is an incredibly hard time of year for a layoff. The fear and pressure you’re feeling are real and valid. The job market is tough right now, but you’re not starting from zero: your experience, relationships, and track record still exist.
Lean on your network, tailor your materials, and give yourself grace. You’re not alone in this, and things do shift. Best of luck <3
I too, was recently was laid off, but I have been proactively looking for two years. I’ve had periods of time where there was no responses, then responses and interviews, to receiving three offers within two weeks of each other. Stay focused and definitely stay positive (that is key) your attitude and energy are just as important if not more than your skills and experience. This market has been inconsistent, but I have noticed recently a lot more activity and I am fortunate that I had started looking early and continuing to interview so when I was laid off on a Tuesday, I had my first job offer on Friday. I received a severance and will be starting after the first of the year. One interview was two months and three weeks long with extensive rotational sessions with every department and intense questions before I got the offer. Another was a month and a half of interviewing. One thing I will share that I learned through the process is that I created and utilized my AI résumé. I obtained four new certifications in AI, but I did not have success utilizing my AI résumé. When I went back to my former résumé, that’s very detailed and has all of my experience outlined, that’s when I started getting responses . Also, I never change my status to open to work, I only opened it up on LinkedIn privately to recruiters. Immediately, I started getting responses 2 to 3 a day. Just a sidenote that may help. There’s many talented candidates with the soft skills matter just as much so ensure you are projecting good energy and a positive outlook. Never give up! They were times I felt just like you are feeling very frustrated and scared, but don’t give up. I’m a single mom of 13 years with two daughters. It has not been easy and this is not my first RIF. Before I was laid off, multiple teams and associates of mine on my team were laid off, and I assumed all of their roles so I was doing about five different jobs and exhausted and worn out. No you’re worth, align the right jobs to your background and experience, and be persistent…network, ask for referrals, applied through all platforms, explore every possible avenue and it will work out. Be patient as well, I know it will be difficult, the build a strategy stick to it and focus. Success doesn’t come from succeeding the first time it’s from not giving up. You got this!😊
Hey 👋🙂 I totally understand how stressful and frustrating this feels, layoffs can hit anyone, and it’s tough when the market feels discouraging 💔. Remember, your experience and skills are valuable, and the right opportunity is out there.

I’m really sorry to be reading this. I’d like to think the world works in its own amazing ways and what is meant for you won’t pass you by and you’ll be glad of it in the long run, hard to see now but shine through and do your very best. I hope you do find something suitable and soon.
Honestly, I have been laid off a few times and it seems to me that corporate greed really takes its toll on HR...and personally, I am tired of laying others off as well. Years ago, when my oldest was young, I filed bankruptcy, paid cash for a run-down double-wide and put it on a $250/month land lease in the country and remodeled it myself. I was the happiest I have ever been. I am very close to going right back to that place.
I was let go from my job in September. I have had numerous phone calls with companies, a handful of face to face interviews and then the rejection emails. I never thought it would be this hard to find a job. It's very scary and depressing especially around the holidays. I know a lot of you are going through it. It's good to know I'm not alone even though I feel that way. I pray for the unemployed to land a job soon. I hope the job market gets better for 2026.
I resigned from a $74k/yr job for ethical and personal reasons back in AUGUST. I NEVER thought it was gonna be this difficult to find a job!!🙏🙏🙏🙏
Keep trying - it took me 6 months to find a position after I was laid off. I sent out 25 or more resumes or job applications every day. I finally excepted a position with a $40K cut just to get my foot in the door. It worked - the manager I came in under quit, I was promoted. Love the company, culture and pay. Sometimes you have to downgrade to super size later.
I have been unemployed since the beginning of September and I never thought it would be this challenging to find a job. I started applying right away too. I agree unemployment is not sustainable. It's very scary out there considering there are a lot of people unemployed and it's very competitive. I just keep praying and hoping to land a job soon. Try not to get discouraged. I know easier said than done.
Same thing happened to me as well. Very similar situation
Easier said than done, but a harsh reminder to have 3 to 6 months saved up to bridge the gap between jobs. Best of luck in landing your next role!
