I was part of mass layoffs in tech and they had several of us battle for roles. So for example combining two roles of middle managers and making it one director role then inviting only those two people to interview and battle it out. The loser was then let go. Sick and twisted. Is this some sort of discrimination loophole though?? I know you’d need the details so I guess I should say could it be? Why wouldn’t they just pick someone?

I’ve been lay off this afternoon because low performance, it just two weeks ago I talked to my manager and told her that she’s micromanaging me a lot and I need more autonomy at my work. I didn’t like what they’ve done to me specially I’ve been redundant from the previous role before joining this company. 6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Need to urgently find a 500k job. Can't keep up with mortgages with anything less. Any advice?

The severance package at Meta for laid off employees almost makes it nice to be laid off depending on what your personal situation is….. personally wouldn’t mind getting 4+ months of full pay to reset and think about what’s next 😬
