I was talking with our principal today about cell phones. I've been noticing how it seems that more and more kids lately, even the K-6 ages, are being distracted by a smart watch or a phone more and more. My principal said that its not nearly as bad at our school than the one where she just came from, but I still see them all the time. Are we going to ever figure this out as a society or are we going to keep exposing kids to these distracting technologies at younger and younger ages?

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... Is anybody else out there going through illegal class sizes for self-contained? How are you dealing? Maybe a vent session is in order.
