I was thinking about this over the weekend, what’s the worst part of your workday? For me, it’s that late afternoon stretch where you’re mentally drained but still have just enough time left that you should be productive. I end up staring at my screen, half working, half waiting for the day to be over. Some days I power through it, other days not so much. Curious what the worst part of the workday is for others and how you deal with it.

Absolutely the same for me. It's so hard to stay motivated after lunch when all I want to do is take a big nap.

Same here, that post-lunch dip is real. Feels like your energy just disappears and you’re running on fumes for the rest of the day. Some days I can push through, other days it’s just not happening.

Anyone hear of an employer that lays you off, and tells you when your last day is and severance is. But then you find out it is 4 to 6 weeks before you see the severance funds.

like

Yeah I’ve heard of that, still feels pretty rough though. Getting laid off is one thing, waiting weeks to actually see the money just adds another layer of stress.

The last two hours of the day are the worst part of the day for me. When I tell you those last couple hours always seem to drag. And I can't help but stare at the clock.

I’m an early bird so worst part for me is when others start getting online and creating chaos

Haha I’m not even an early bird but I totally get this… those first few quiet hours hit different, and then the flood of messages starts and it’s game over.

Try cutting down the lunchtime alcohol intake to just 2 drinks!

Same for me! It’s so difficult to power through when my brain just wants a break from the screen and thinking

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Does anyone know the salary of a beginner para planner at Ameriprise or any other broker-dealer?

Should I decline the offer and ask to be considered for a higher role that better fits my qualifications? The offer I had was with a great bank but I'm overqualified for that. Its been hard to find a job because I dont have prior experiences.

Does anyone here work at Ameriprise financial? If so, would you recommend it? What is the work life balance like? I have an interview for a Advisory trading specialist role. Thanks!

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?
