I went to law school because I wanted to eventually represent musicians (think bands and singer songwriters). Any advice as to firms that represent major/indie labels in the music industry? I live in Los Angeles.

I work on the music team at Manatt. Our LA office is in Century City and we were just ranked the best music law practice in the country.

I need to get in there

Peter Anderson at DWT and Robert Jacobs at Manatt are killing it in the music litigation sphere lately.

Loeb and Grubman both do artist side representation. It's not as glamorous as it sounds though. There are other music industry legal roles that are a lot better, IMO.

To be fair, some may like the artist side madness. In my experience it's waiting for artist reps (who are often friends or family members of the artists) to get back to you at odd hours for bizarre comments on drafts.

I prefer the relative normalcy of streamer or label side (not A&R though). Or music tech, although less lucrative.

Thank you!

You need to also look at boutiques. Not all about Manatt but they are v aggressive.

OP: How did this work out for you? Did you identify any firms you like? I share your interests!

I realized I've been a dummy for getting a job at a creative agency and not working on my portfolio. Most of the projects I've taken on, I've done so as a way to support others without taking much credit for it. Now, a better opportunity came along and I don't have anything to show for my talent as a designer. ALWAYS take credit for what you do, even if it's not your project to begin with.

You will be left with no choice other than leaving TCS.

Truth be told I have never been through onboarding via remote. It’s a bit of a struggle. It’s taking forever to get access to certain resources and my assigned mentor is always underwater. How is everyone dealing with this? My manager seems hard to please in our first couple 1:1s.

This is related to increment/hike.
Promoted to Manager from Senior Consultant 2 in Business Consulting Risk Advisory. Current package is INR 17.5 L fixed with 7.5 years of total work experience. Bonus received is 25%.

Can someone please tell what would be the revised fixed compensation (how much hike can I expect). Also, whether will be promoted to M1 Or M2. Thanks.

Anyone in downtown bk or Williamsburg wants to join our board game group?

We are currently a group of 3, but one person is moving to west coast soon, which reduces our board game options and complexity!

We tend to hangout with limited groups of friends and meet up at least every other week. So ideally just want to find 1-2 more like-minded people to join us.

If you are interested, please leave a comment with what are your top 3 board games and a description of your personality :)

General question, and I suspect the answer is no. Are there any employment or exec comp-related jobs in the entertainment industry? Or, are there any law firms purely focused on entertainment that have a comp/employment/benefits group? I’m at a large firm with a lot of high profile artists, but I’d like to narrow my practice down to entertainment.
