I have 2 and wished we had another. Wife didn’t want any due to age, but I was being selfish so that I have a large family at retirement 😀
Personally, I think 2 works in many ways. One child per parent - at all ages. Make it easier to travel; a final point for us was the expenses
We had our second when I was 41. I am now 53. I cannot imagine having three to be honest. It gets harder as you get older and might complicate your retirement too. Our issue was starting too late.
I’m 37 and we have 5. It’s a ton of work, but my wife is really a champ. At this point I can’t imagine life with just 2 kids. Expenses really haven’t been an issue yet, but will be more challenging once they reach high school/college.
+also interested in perspectives from dads who went well beyond their comfort zone, accidentally or through compromise, and would recommend it. Why?
38 with 3 kids - 14, 11, 4
Had a large family growing up and always wanted 6. Three is a good number. The older two are great with the younger one. I don’t worry much about the financial impact because I was raised in a home with very little and have done okay in life.
