What careers pay the best in the Uk?
Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?

£100k base salary is definitely on the high side. But it's not so high that I'd call it unreasonable.
But "MBA-level" is not a thing. You're at whatever level you're at, with whatever experience you have, along with whatever skills and education you have.
An MBA was one of many paths to get to "your level" but unless a role is specifically tailored as an MBA pipeline role (as is common in banking and consulting) there's not really an "MBA level."
The real question is what level of responsibility and leadership are you ready for? It sounds like you're exciting at the manager level, so you have some experience being responsible for deliverables and project management, but you don't have P&L ownership or deep team development.

Depends highly on the industry and role

Any fee earning role (eg sales), strategy (anything with C suite interaction), or a head of department / team lead.
Very dependent on your experience rather than MBA

MBA level as in you have an MBA or some of your peers have them?
😂
"What does an MBA have that I don't?"
Er, an MBA...
More seriously, wider network, more formal leadership training, proof of performance via a broader set of criteria than might be set by a firm etc. I understand your frustrations though.
Hey! I recently left a T2 firm for industry. I have an MBA from a top tier school. I can tell you that compensation is highly industry and size of company dependent. However it’s quite clear that compensation is generally quite low vs. consulting in the UK (US not so much). Based on my exit and some of my friends (MBB), you are more likely to get a drop of something between -10 to -20% in base
Yes that’s what I have seen - if you exit at SC/M, you generally end up getting 70-100k depending on the industry. I have observed that Strategy roles in PE owned business tend to pay slightly more e.g., one of my friends recently exited from tier 1 to get c.95k-100k base

MBA Level means nothing. Having said that, nobody in the UK cares whether you have an MBA. I speak from experience. What matters in your professional experience.
