Used to be PwC, now at EY...I’ve “worked from home” for weeks at a time when things were slow. Just be reachable and be able to get to the office within an hour or so.
I stay home whenever I’m unassigned/working by myself ain’t no one got the time to drive to the office and sit there
I have similar issues, I’m forced to charge PTO if I work from home and don’t charge 8 billable hours.. it’s absurd. So instead, I have to come into the office and sit on my ass... I end up leaving at 3-4 and “relocate” home
Idk I don’t wanna risk it. There’s no way they don’t do random checks but maybe they actually don’t. Who knows... just feels like a kindergarten.
I almost always work from home when I'm not busy. There's no need for you to go through the process of getting to the office if you're just going to sit there.
Unfortunately even at PwC it depends on who you're working with. I have a manager in my office who doesn't believe in working from home and wants you to be in the office at the same time as her. It's very frustrating and definitely doesn't help with morale
If it’s off season and there are other people on the team that are doing that then that’s one thing, but if it’s in the middle of busy season and other people are at the office making themselves available/looking for work/offering to help out then that’s an easy way to piss people off and alienate yourself from the rest of your team. Not to mention there is plenty of things you can do outside of billable work, you can help out with trainings, plan volunteer events, put together job aids. If you want to “work from home” without actually doing any work then take PTO.
one day a week? yeah who cares
Depends on your team. What code would you charge those home hours to? Would think you would still need to charge 8
If you’re in tax. Have you thought about venturing into tax tech?
What level are you OP? Also shouldn’t this question be directed to your manager...?
Staff 1. I don’t have anyone I directly report to.
When I’m on an out of town client (I’m the only one on the team out of town) but we’re not onsite, I’m def working from home. I’ve worked from home a month straight over the summer after busy season and still got promoted.
8 hours into GAA or CED while working from home...
Which practice are you in?
Tax
definitely wfh
Digital upskill my dude. Make Tim Ryan proud
I’m a staff 1 in tax and people (including staff 1s) work from home on a regular basis. As long as you’re actually available people in my office don’t care
