The agency should pay for your relocation. AND you can and should negotiate the package.
Yep agreed with ACD ^^ keep in mind relocating typically costs about 5-10k on the low end of things depending on many factors. Make sure there's a way for you to NOT have to pay that back either if you quit/leave
Of course, you should ask. Just don't get shocked if they say No. I'd say interview first to get them on the hook/like you/make you an offer, then you'll have more leverage. If you're seriously interested. Don't waste yours and their time if not really considering it either.
Definitely depends on the level. HR collected quotes from 3 moving companies and offered to pay gas/airfare but the contract stated that I had to stay in the position for a year or pay it all back.
Agreed it's worth asking. It's just less likely at this level.
The agency will pay, I am surprised this hasn't come up yet. The amount may be negotiable. Call a couple of movers and get an estimate, that way you have real facts to negotiate with.
thanks everyone! the other day it was implied as an almost unreasonable ask...so now I'm 100% confirmed that it's not.
Depends on level though. I'd say associate director and up is more likely to get that but I don't know for sure
Fuck the level. I didn't ask for moving expenses because I heard the same bullshit. I found out a junior at my company got moving expenses paid for because they ask. Always ask. They can say no.
No one said not to ask. You should always ask. The worst they can do is say no.
Dude everything is negotiable
Out of curiosity - what have people seen on the high end ?
We've had a number of posts on this very topic. It varies greatly between shops, and is less likely for non managerial/non senior positions. Most job postings that do offer it, say so upfront too. Again, there is no definitive answer.
