This is why I secretly avoid 1:1s with my manager!

I recently interviewed with MITRE for a systems engineering role to make the move from Leidos where I feel underpaid for the work I do and for my experience ($85K). I have 4 YOE, a STEM degree, and soon will have a Masters Degree. I’m looking to make around $120K in the new role at Mitre. Does anyone have any insight into comp there? This would be in the DC metro area. Does $120K seem reasonable or am I dreaming?
Any advice on moving from L4 to L5 in Amazon?

Bonuses are not guaranteed and generally weighted on if the company reaches targets not always the individual performance. Also taxed more. I would want the higher salary.
Bonuses don't build year on year. At the end of 10 years you won't be at an improved total compensation like you would for increase. Someone said before me though, that either is better than none though.
I.e. if I got 2k more a year every year for 10 years vs. 5k bonus' for 10 years at the end of 10 years the increases would equate to 110k over original compensation vs. 50k in bonuses just as an example.....this is massively oversimplified but it illustrates my point.
Isn't it 20k vs 50k? How is it 110k?
All things considered, having at least one of them is better than neither of them. Would also factor in what your salary is compared to what is around. Does the bonus make some kind of dent if it is on the lower end, things like that are all things to think about.
I think it depends on how much that bonus really helps you out. If the bonus makes a significant difference, it could be a solid deal. But if salary growth is stagnating, it might be worth considering whether long-term growth opportunities are there. How do you feel about the balance right now?
What percentage of your salary was your bonus? That would be my first question.
Above what percentage is considered good enough to compromise on annual compensation hike?
