Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

If you’re just thinking about $ and comp trajectory, you’re not the type of person to get the true value of an MBA anyway. You can easily do that math and I encourage you to do so.
The intangibles are what make the MBA worth it IMO. The network (especially my b school friends at the firm), lifelong friendships, exposure to new and interesting topics and industries. You get out what you put in.
Also, just find a few people in a similar position as you who did the MBA (w/ GSAP) and those who didn’t. FWIW all my D friends from school were super happy they went and are all awesome, lovely people!
Probably. But I really invested in the experience and got more out of it than the average person I think.
TBH, it depends on your current comp, and your current network, and if you feel you can get into a top top school.
If I was making 110k as a SC in Deloitte and got accepted to a m7, i wouldn’t hesitate, but if I’m at 140, and only accepted into t20’s, might be a bit more difficult decision...
Ey1 - this isn't stocks. And whoever thinks what you do just sounds a bit butt hurt
MBA is only worth it if: 1) it’s paid for or 2) if it’s not paid for, then it’s gotta be a top M7 or top 10 to say the least. The experience and network you make at MBA programs can be invaluable. HOWEVER, coming from personal experience, you can absolutely make those same connections through other mediums.
I was thinking of applying to MBA programs and reached out to people who went to my target schools via LinkedIn. You have no idea how useful, nice they were and I established connections with every one of them. Additionally, with my work experience (6 years) I have been able to command post MBA salaries. Circumstances are different for everyone. Also, MBAs can sometimes slow down your career trajectory
I struggled with that. I ended up deciding no it’s not worth it to do the MBA.
I would just make sure it’s the true post-MBA role equivalent, promoted SC at Deloitte makes less than MBA SC for example, but you can get EM at McKinsey which is paid the same.
I decided against it because it would have ended up being a paycut for me compared to what I was making now and slowed my overall trajectory.
Separate question:, Do you feel like you carry the brand of your MBA with you for life (or at least for a kind of long while)?
Or does it stop mattering after your first job after?
next year if all goes well.
I also won't be eligible for firm MBA sponsorship for another 1.5 years---a full year into my new role.
