If you don’t really care about people but you’re smart enough to know optics matter, taking a sponsorship role for the D&I initiative is a great cover. You can ignore real issues form your team by pointing to all the D&I stuff you’re sponsoring as solitons.

Then, when you quit and ghost your direct reports people won’t remember what a jerk move that was - they’ll think about the D&I sponsorship.

And if they don’t… who cares? You’re gonzo and it was all a front anyway.

This is for a Visual designer's position
1. What was the breakpoint for design
2. Did you design the components and design system?
3. How was your handoff to developers (I've never one that)

When an organization is not adequately staffed, be sure increase the number of meetings to address how to allocate people. Forcing negotiations at multiple org levels around the same decisions will ensure everyone is totally aligned.

This accomplishes three things:
1) Everyone is mad at each other since they’re competing for people
2) They’re confused and not able to pay attention to the root issue of chronic under staffing
3) They’re distracted from blaming mgmt for the root cause.

We’re approaching annual review season and it’s very important you put your 2022 goals into the system. Most of you don’t have any goals listed (10.5 months into the year) and they goals mean f*ck all in the evaluation process, but I need you to get your goals documented TODAY.

If you’re not competent enough to solve real problems in the organization, create a few minor problems that you can solve and look like a hero.

But you have to ensure the org feels the pain of your decision before promising to fix it. It’s like the three parts of a magic trick: the pledge where you float your idea, the turn where you inflict your idea, and the prestige where you fake a way to fix the mess you made on purpose.

When you know the employee survey results for your business unit will be absolute dog crap, just delay the survey and claim it’s so you can conduct a more focused survey for your business unit.
