If you have auditory processing issues, how have you handled work or interviews when numbers or other info are thrown at you quickly? Do you ask for subtitles during interviews?

Yesterday I had my Bain case, and it was embarrassing that my interviewer had to repeat changes in numbers so frequently for me. :/ I'm more of a visual learner, and if info is written down, I grasp and recall it instantly.

I totally relate—I’m a visual learner too, and fast-paced verbal info can be overwhelming. For cases, I always ask if I can write down numbers as they share them or request they slow down. Don’t feel embarrassed! A lot of people process differently, and adapting shows self-awareness and professionalism

Oh wow, this is great to know for the future. 😮 I should have asked him to slow down, which is a request that I didn't know was possible, so I'll do that for the future!

Do you just explain that you're a bit hard of hearing when you make the ask? I just feel like there's an expectation that we be able to catch on and remember all info quickly and accurately. 😥

I have a really hard time keeping numbers straight in my head, I really do need to write them down or have them where I can see to do any kind of decent work. I would ideally ask to be able to write it down, but on the spot, not sure I would have even done that. Probably not the first time they have seen it, and better to ask and be sure then to guess and be wrong just from that.

Was this virtually? Teams and Zoom allows you to turn on captions. If no captions, I would have asked if they can send the info in the chat. I also have auditory processing difficulties.

helpful

Yes, virtually. Thank you! I'll ask for next time. Because they host interviews on their platform (to prevent us from recording interviews), did you have to ask for accommodations and submit medical proof?

What is considered acceptable wear for a company offsite?

I started a small LLC on the side. My company is getting it's first client this month.

Wondering if any 🐟 have recommended resources on setting up initial consulting business thru an LLC.

Books, websites, tax strategies etc.

My LLC is already incorporated, but looking for guidance with the next steps (creating contracts, invoices, etc)

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)
