If you refer a client to the firm you work at is it customary for you to do the work for the client?
I am a new attorney at a small ID firm but one one of the partners does business law as well. I referred a potential client for business services but I haven’t not done any business work yet. Should I expect to get in on the work if they sign on or will I stay with what they have me doing with insurance?

No, not if the work is not within your area of expertise or there was some explicit expectation the client had that you would work on it.

My favorite kind of clients are the ones I bring in, collect origination on, but don’t have to actually do the work.

I’m not really familiar with the client. They are a friend of a friend, I think technically an employer of my friend. But I understand what you are saying.

Also I am worried about the partner I am currently working with getting upset because he thinks I don’t want to do the work he wants me to do or something like that .

I’m assuming it at least looks favorable that I’m bringing business to the firm in the least.

As I'm joining pwc kolkata on 17oct. Should I expect to get any sort of communication from the Kolkata office about joining/point of contact etc.

I just got a job offer for an Entry Level Software Engineer at Boeing in Saint Louis. The salary is $82,000 with an $8,000 sign on bonus. I was hoping for an offer closer to 90k base and I don’t care too much for a sign on bonus. However, this is a lot more than what I’m making now, and would be my first SWE job. Should I counter? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thanks!
