McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

If you like it, fine with the level and don’t get fired - why
Pro
Hmm. How can we answer that for you knowing nothing about you, your strength, goals, aspirations etc?
within reach in the next 2 years
Promotion alone would not motivate me to leave, esp if I like the level and am getting stay at level increases (coupled with nice bonuses)
No.

Why not just stay til you get booted (assuming you don’t want to become SM)? Unless you don’t like the role/level you’re at.
I wish I could could stay an M forever. I love this spot!
OP, I wish it was like that Strategy&, you’d be gone by now if you were here. Up or out is a religion here.
I'd stay and keep going until you get promoted or asked to leave
I predict up or out will decrease in most firms at least for a few years until effects of AI gets settled, if they do. Most firms will move to a diamond shape, not a pyramid, so there will be bottlenecks entering workforce and rising
Making to top is getting more and more difficult. Every single SM I worked in GPS 6 years ago, are still SM except for 1. He got promoted to some tech ninja or something like that. Still not PPMD. So it's a matter of where you are put in the freezer. If not now then in SM position. I would start looking around and see if you can go somewhere better. Like AWS or product companies.
“put in freezer”? love the analogy, lol.
is it a real thing?
Depends on if you are still learning and enjoy your job!
Be sure you want SM at that point, right now SMs are getting cut left and right
still??
