I’m biased from my personal experience, but having gone through many rounds of retrievals and transfers and having so many eggs and embryos die off at each step of the process, my advice would be to do more retrievals. It becomes a numbers game at the end of the day and you just want to be in the best spot possible. FWIW I was 35 when I started also and no underlying fertility issues (was doing IVF for a genetic issue).
If you go again you may want to take 3 months to optimize your health for the retrieval. You can read the book It starts with the egg, or you can just Google search the recommendations for the book. Basically you want to take several daily supplements and make some lifestyle changes for 3 full months before your next retrieval because that’s how long it takes for follicles to develop.
My friend did this and got 7 embryos after 2 prior rounds where she got 1 and 0 each. I’m in the middle of my three months now and my AMH has actually already increased from a year ago.
Especially if you’re going to pay out of pocket, it’s worthwhile to do as much as you can to make sure you’re getting the healthiest eggs possible.
Thank you, I think I might do that. Take my file to another clinic for a consultation just to see if they flag something the first clinic didn't mention. Its frustrating to follow all the instructions and do everything in my control and to still have an outcome such as this happen. I'm so appreciative of the science that has allowed this to even be an option but it has become clear there is still so much we don't understand
I am 34. I had 15 retrieved, 14 fertilized and got 5 embryos from that. So yes might need more eggs.
I have some unrelated gastritis issues I have to treat and then polyp removal. So looking for FET around May/June. And yes same, was thinking more of 7-8 blastocysts.

My clinic charges people paying out of pocket 50% what they charge when insurance pays. Worth asking your clinic for an estimate. I agree with taking some time to improve your health (and give your body some rest) and then considering another round.
Is this in US?
Also look into bundl. It's a service that you pay for multiple rounds at a discount. It's spelled just as I spelled it.
I did retrieval at 35 as well. Definitely do it earlier rather than later - and I hate to say it, but 5 eggs isn’t enough. My RE recommended 15-20+ for a 90%+ chance of conceiving one live birth (there’s a chart of this somewhere).
I also paid entirely out of pocket. It was surprisingly “reasonable” - the self pay price for both medication as well as visits / labs / procedure is far lower. I believe I paid ~$5k per round total.
Edit to add - agree with taking a couple months to optimize health and take all the recommended supplements - I retrieved 15 eggs my first round, and 30 my second round - crediting the bump to both a better understanding of my med cycle, as well as taking care of myself and eating alllll the supplements!

Wow. I’m originally from NH. Maybe I move back in for a few rounds and save a boatload of money.
