Not sure about addressing any kind of brain fog. But wanted to say that one of my professors said that while you can be an “all around athlete” professionally for a few years into your career, you can’t stay an athlete (or in your case, a Swiss Army knife) forever and need to start specializing in something to advance your career. Just some food for thought
To my knowledge, i've never had COVID. I really thought I had it in January but I kept testing negative. It's possible though.

Though today I felt a bit of a spark again. We just hired some new folks. Including some senior to me. I think I have a need to be seen as smart and a hard worker. So the fact that someone senior to me might not see me at my best is terrifying. And motivating.
Yes! I feel this 100%.
This is how I felt coming back from mat leave. Going back to the office helped (as did actually sleeping). You might not be dealing with the same root cause but here to say that this can be a very real problem and that it can get better. Would recommend troubleshooting along the following lines:
1. Physical health - get enough sleep, eat well, get outside to at least walk or move around. Get a blood draw to make sure nothing more serious is going on.
2. Mental health / stress management
3. Ways of working / evaluating the things on your plate - can you cut or some meeting? Change a process? Take things off your plate?
I would pull on the sleep and health lever first and most before you move down the list, but if you make changes and in 3 months you don’t see an impact then it is possible something more serious is going on with physical or mental health.
Good luck friend.
Mat leave! I never thought to make that connection. I don't have kids yet but I've had coworkers talk about this post Mat leave. Thank you for these suggestions, I will take these to heart. I didn't even think to get a blood test to make sure nothing else is going on. Also thank you for telling me it's not as unique as I think it is and that there can be an expiration date to the fog. I was starting to feel slightly helpless and obviously it's not something that employers want to hear so I can never bring it up.

That's exactly me. No advice as I haven't figured it out myself yet, but you aren't the only one
Thank you! I've been so confused about it and I don't hear anyone talking about it either. Just knowing i'm not the only one helps in a weird way. So sorry you're also in this boat.
Therapy? How is your diet, sleep, activity level? Have you tried meditation? How are your relationships?
Haha! Why didn't I think of reddit. Thank you!!!
