I’m a litigation associate (rising 5th year) and want to move cities to Chicago, but also want to try for a baby next year. Do you know if firms like Jenner, Sidley, Mayer Brown, Bartlit Beck require you to have been an associate there for a certain period (e.g., a year) before you can access maternity leave? Thanks!

Those rooms are not all created equal, but to answer your question, no you don’t need to be there a certain amount of time before you access maternity leave. However, whether or not this is PC to say, I guarantee you people will judge you and it may impact your career down the road, so just think about it carefully and also make sure you find a mentor and a sponsor.

This was me as a lateral at one of those firms and I made partner at that firm, so take the above comments with a grain of salt.

I would love some suggestions on transitioning and career paths.

I gave 15+ years in healthcare claims (payer side, physician/facility side) and revenue cycle management. I’m burnt out and want to transition away from revenue cycle mgmt.

I only have my Associates degree and would currently need to take a job that is remote with no/minimal phone responsibilities. What roles do you recommend that would allow me to transition my skills while maintaining a minimum salary of 50k?

Hi Everyone,

I just need some advice.
My father passed away a few months back and I am yet to obtain the legal heir certificate. Given the ITR deadline is near, should I just file his ITR from his account or is there any other option?

Thanks in advance

Fellow P&T Directors - here’s a thread for us to discuss what we are hearing/not hearing with regards to PCLDE and the making of new partners in P&T.

On every call, we hear Joe talk about making new Partners and his commitment. I have yet to see any of those ‘commitments’ be reflected in actions or explanations. (eg. No senior directors from commercial GTM going into PCLDE this year …) What?

Do they really think we’re going to ‘stick around’ until they ‘figure it out’ …

I realize sheer number of cases doesn’t tell the whole story… obviously you can be buried on one massive case. I’m finding it hard to jump back and forth between everything I have going on right now, though, but I don’t know if the answer is to just deal with it.

For reference, all associates are around the firms minimum requirement, it’s just that a few of us are 30+% over and it is leading to burnout.
