I’m a senior litigation associate in NYC biglaw. We’re expecting our first baby later this year and once the baby is born, we’d like to relocate to Cleveland to be closer to family. What’s the best way to go about locating a new position in Cleveland BigLaw? I get tons of recruiter emails for NY, DC, CA, etc. but none for smaller Midwest markets and am struggling to find recruiters who place attorneys in Ohio. Do any such recruiters or recruiting firms exist?

I feel like being a customs agent requires a special type of person. It seems like such a straining job that I want to commend them.

I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days). I have two young children and we like to vacation 1-2x a year (no more than a few days away each time). Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts? I dont know if lack of PTO is a good reason to back out, is it?

Does anyone know why so many Cuyahoga County Common Pleas judges require so much extra stuff with motions for default judgment? Some require an affidavit about service when it's right on the docket. Others require a letter sent with a notice of the hearing, when the clerk clearly does that. I have practiced in multiple other counties small and large and none of them have these.

Hot take- county government is going to ignore all suggestions and do whatever they want with the Justice Center, somehow making it more inconvenient.
