Hi, is this going to be your first child? I absolutely hated the nighttime wake ups but after I had my children it dawned on me that it was prepping my body to wake up throughout the night to feed them and to somehow still be able to function during the day. So if you can’t find a sleeping remedy, maybe you can at least find a little solace in knowing your body is indeed being productive by getting you ready for baby’s arrival ❤️
Yup!!! This is exactly it. It's actually quite amazing how your body will prep you.
(Newborn sleep deprivation is still rough - make sure your partner helps!!! But yes, embrace this time as training!)
I agree with CD. Also, try to enjoy the quietness, freedom to use the bathroom when ever you want and sleep when ever you’re tired. Your world is about to be rocked by your little one. 😉
♥️ thank you
There are no more full nights. It’s your body’s way of prepping you to wake up every few hours to make sure the baby is fed and OK at night, and having to nap when the baby naps throughout the day to catch up on rest.
I am very pregnant as well and couldn’t survive the work week without Unisom. I take half a tablet when I wake up to go pee and then I get another four hours of sleep. Without it, I can’t fall back asleep and crash around 2pm.
Sounds dorky but I listen to guided meditation on YouTube (one ear bud so I don’t wake my husband.) I’m not pregnant so not dealing with the same level of discomfort but it works for me. Once the baby comes you will have to get very creative with your daytime sleep methods to make up for the lack of sleep at night. I used to nap in the pump room at work. Shhh🤫
Congrats! I’m right behind you at 7 months and am just beginning to experience this as well. One thing that’s helped is to keep my phone out of the bedroom (4am scrolling is so tempting) and read myself back to sleep.
You’re so right. Congrats too! I try to read a paper book and have some milk and a bit of cereal to make myself drowsy. But this morning I failed to ignore my phone 🙈 Should be more strict with myself. Thanks for the reminder!
Unisom - my doc recommended it, safe for pregnancy
Something that I did towards the end was to not drink any water after 8pm. I've heard magnesium works well! Just make sure to ask your Dr about it.
Midnite tablets are helpful to fall back asleep as long as you have at least 2 hours before you need to wake up. It is melatonin and some herbs. But ask your doc. And begin practicing techniques/habits to quickly fall back asleep, such as no phone/lights, a mantra/phrase you can repeat in your head to keep your brain from engaging in racing thoughts, cool wash cloth on your face, counting sheep, etc. good luck!
You know, people always said “sleep now while you can before the baby comes.“ And I always wanted to slap those people. I had so much insomnia through my pregnancies, I was so uncomfortable. Even though my sleep was interrupted after I had my kids, at least I had my body back and could sleep comfortably. I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s really tough.
Guided meditation definitely helped though. And sleeping partially inclined.
Also - I’m in a similar boat. I’ve just accepted that I’ll need a nap - with WFH it’s easier. Instead of waiting to fall asleep after I wake up, if I feel very awake, I just start doing things that I need to get done later, assuming I’ll lose time to napping. Usually more mindless stuff that still needs to get done, or really anything that takes time out of your day
8 months pregnant over here and I feel you! I still use my Ava bracelet to track my sleep and it depresses me every morning to see 4-5 hours max on there. The strong kicking combined with the lower back/sciatica situation is brutal! I may try the Unisom route. I wish you that good good sleep!
