Consulting Exit Opportunities

I'm an S&O SC, a super high performer who got screwed over Manager promotion though I had Promotion Year set at 2019! Am talking with Strategy& for SA, and Google for S&O Lead. Which one to pick?

I think Strategy& is an exciting place to be right now (Google probably is too) - and research shows jumping employer every few years is beneficial

It seems increasingly common for promos to be dragged out a year. I honestly think sticking out one year isn't the worst idea and gives an opportunity to exploring your own preferences and styles within the firm.

Confirmed, S& is doing well / on the up and up but if you feel similarly enthusiastic about your functional responsibilities and comp at each, Google brand > S& brand.

Many things to unbundle here... Either of these opportunities an offer in your hand? If not, actually wait until you truly have a “pick”. Especially true for Google StratOps. Lateral into another consulting firm at the post MBa level will not shorten your time to manager, if anything likely will take longer. Why not try to negotiate for manager position, since you are (according to you) someone who should have been promoted already.

Yeah agree w/ S&3. It seems like you’re asking which one to pick when you don’t currently have an offer from either. Go through the process with both and see which one you like.
