I'm at Deloitte GPS and thinking about switching to another big4 for data analytics as I feel my technical skills aren't FAANG level. Would EY or PwC be a good place to build upon my technical skills?

Why not stay and work on your technical skills and then target faang/tech directly ?

likesmart

Yeah I don't see how switching to another consultancy would help. D seems like the big dog in GPS anyway, so plenty of opportunity to pick the right project, if you can network your way to it.

Plus since the gov is often so behind, you can come in and ideally sidekick someone to learn valuable skills on the job.

It will be heavily engagement dependent. I know folks at my company who are using advanced modeling techniques in Python, some do validation work, some do data modeling/data architecture, etc. My engagement has been very low-skilled but that’s just the nature of this particular engagement.

Yo hook me up with those advanced modeling projects

There are some very technical team in Consulting specialized in data science/data engineering/machine learning engineering. Maybe internal transfer can be an option as well.

Are you doing data analytics now? What kind of skills do you have

Yes it's just basic pandas though. I was a half decent data engineer before joining Deloitte.

Apply to the FAANG positions. Just do some interview prep first and give it a shot. You’re ready!

Join a CoP within Deloitte and get on some projects there, Databricks CoP is active for instance, DM me and I can add you

Yeah of course

DM me if you’d be interested in a role at Databricks

What kind of roles do you guys have?

I have heard from friends working in different companies about Synechron. Employees working hours are very closely monitored at Synechron.

Employees have to spend 9 hours inside Office rather than Synechron premise.

Also, employees have some app installed in their virtual machines which tracks the duration for which they were logged in.

Is this true?Wanted to confirm from someone who are working with Synechron.

So pretty much you work In consulting, get paid half of what fang people make and In many cases work IB hours to meet clients continually changing demands . I really don’t understand why anyone in the field would work as a consultant doing data work? The only + is in consulting there are lots of low hangin fruit 🍎.
