I’m being promoted to Manager this November but recent got offer from a fintech. In money term the manager base pay is 5k greater than the new role but i’m negotiating to match the offer with my Manager salary. Should I wait until promoted or move asap? I dont want to continue working in external audit so trying to pivot to data analyst role/IA in the fintech before moving to full DA/DS position… but thinking the Manager promotion would help negotiate salary in the future.

I think you should not move for the same or even 5k unless you are in a dire situation.

it is more about making the transition to da/ds role in the future. In my current role i’m working on audit analytics function but feel like they are behinds in terms of tech and the work is mostly reconciling revenue … the fintech could look good on CV and i may learn alot more because it is a start up like environment.

Or you can go to the fintech, gain some marketable experience for 2-3 years and move to a different place for more money than you would get by staying and trying again later.

yeah exactly what i think but then i wont have a manager or avp title (if move to bank) ! only worry that this may slow my future progression

I wouldnt be jumping for no increase in salary.

i can either jump or stay and the salary will both increase. if i move now my salary will increase as im not paid a M salary yet

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Was preserving your wedding bouquet worth it post ceremony? I’m trying to decide if I’d like to have mine preserved and put in a frame or in one of those clear boxes that can be made. I’m getting married on Saturday at our home in a super intimate ceremony. We cancelled the big celebration after already postponing once due to COVID. It would be my one item from the day besides pictures and my wedding band of course. It’s not cheap, so curious to hear thoughts. Recommendations are also welcome!

I’m thankfully hitting my hours, but my firm keeps passing non-billable work my way. I am grateful for the opportunities, but this type of work always seems to find its way to the female associates at my firm. We have been told that non-billable work is irrelevant in terms of our annual hours. Any tips on how to navigate this in a thoughtful way? I want to be a team-player, but I believe that others need to step up to the plate.
