I’m currently in architecture. I’ve been trying to switch over to construction management like position such as project, engineer or field engineer in order to grow my skills elsewhere. I really hate design-y crap and non-real projects and I’ve had several interviews, I’ve put out dozens of applications, several phone screenings, and personal referrals from people I know, and yet I still can’t land any job. I’m thinking about going to school part-time for construction management at this point..?

One of my friends, he made a switch just 6 months back hoping he would get a better work environment a better package, but now he is just frustrated with the working environment, being a backend developer he has been asked to just fix bugs for almost 5 months now and that too in javascript without any KTs or any other trainings when he clearly did mention in the interview that he does not have prior knowledge on javascript.

Have got an offer from Maersk. I'm really interested to join. But on seeing the recession scenario and some companies withdrawing offers, I'm really afraid whether Maersk will also follow suit.

My evenings and often the weekends are all absorbed by work duties. Working part-time would allow me to find a better balance, and carve out space for side gigs and eventually start my own firm.
