A lot of it is going to depend on location but my gut instinct is you’re going to have trouble finding a base that high.
In SMB Tech Sales you should make more than $100k, but I don’t normally see base that high for SMB.
As an example, my base is $75k, I’m a Mid Market rep, but will probably bring in $400k this year.
Base is obviously important but it’s more important to see “how much of the team is hitting quota.”
I’m in houston but have family ties in Austin Texas. I’ve been checking repvue for each AE jobs I’m applying as well as doing LinkedIn networking by messaging the recruiter to offset the lack of experience.
Do you mind if I asked where you work?
The tech industry will want some tech background. You could look for a commercial/medium enterprise role in insurance, or look for a SMB role at a tech company, or find some other way to get experience. One way would be to find a mentor in the tech space that can sponsor you.
SMB AE in SaaS wouldn't normally have a base of 80 to 100k. Likely in the 55 to 70K range. But orgs like SFDC will get you moved up to bigger territories soon, and that's where you can get 80 to 100
Thank you! I have a close friend in small business at SFDC so getting my referral there now.
OP: also I have 6+ year as a business analyst from mid to larger enterprise companies
