It sounds like you and I work at the same company. I hate how companies do this. But think about it, it saves them money to dump that work on you and not hire someone else.
Get an offer somewhere else that conversation usually ends up in your favor and getting the raise. Just sucks it has to come to that.
Because every place is burning people out and having everyone do 2x the workload they should be doing. There are no good options right now.
Sure there is. Just have to be patient.
Start saying no and asking for help. Companies will dump more and more work until people break.
Stop doing some tasks, see if anyone notices. Sometimes work is just inertia with no value. Likely you'll find some things nobody cares about and can just stop doing.
Like it or not it's up to you to control your boundaries and limits. Took me a long time to learn this personally.
And sometimes it's legit an unaware manager who doesn't realize everything, especially if you aren't raising concerns. Lots of work is invisible unless you make it clear what you're doing.
Just stop doing the work
Start applying at other places, get an offer and when you do approach them about the topic and say why you deserve the raise. If they say we will get back to you or we can’t give you a raise you show the offer. They basically don’t have respect to give you a raise when they know you’re doing two people’s jobs.
Have an honest conversation but be prepared to leave.
Did you complain? They might feel you've got it
