Show your self some grace , you got this 💪🏾
Drop off on the first day was the worst part (the last few days leading up to it were second worst). I didn't put on eye makeup that morning. I dropped him off and allowed myself the car ride to bawl my eyes out (about a 20 minute drive). Once I was parked, I finished my make-up, grabbed a good cup of coffee, and went to work. I focused on 'little wins' that day....like going to the bathroom any time I wanted to without worrying where the baby way and talking to grown-ups. Pretty sure I also splurged and went out for lunch that day. And the biggest win of that day and every other workday after, was picking him up. I remember walking into daycare every day, scanning the room for him, and then feeling like I won the lottery because I always got to take home my most favorite person in the world.
Well nothing, really. Honestly, I was so emotional, nothing was going to stop me from crying that day. But every day gets a little easier. Eventually you’ll enjoy the time you spend as a professional and not only “mommy” but it takes time. Give yourself grace. You’re gonna have the feelings and you’re allowed. If I can provide any help, it’s this: you’re not the only mom who has gone through this or will go through this and frankly, you’re not the only mom who will be doing it that day. You’re not alone. We’re all here with you. Cry it out. Your baby is going to be loved and cared for by the people you chose, will have a great day, and will light up at the sight of you at the end of it. Hugs.
Well said. That was my experience and I full time WFH.
