Interviewing at a dream company, and right from the first interview the recruiter told me we are way off on salary expectations. This was a little bit expected, as the role is requiring a few years less experience than I have and also in a much cheaper market. They already told me the salary range during this first call, but wondering if they like me enough and I get an offer, how I might approach negotiating for more. I would be making much less than I do now, but it is a dream company.

During my interview process I clearly stated my salary expectations of 95k-105k. They came back with an offer at 80k. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me.
