Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?

Get some operating experience at a growing startup, ideally where you directly interact with VC/PE or m&a work
Yea, I may have one very relevant opportunity to help a growing and funded startup over the next year or so to build that experience. That's a good idea.

Thank you, I'll definitely start those conversations now.
I'll also look into (1), and I think I have a way of starting to get (2) operational experience with a recently launched startup with $5-10m in funding (it was launched by a family friend).
As far as (4), how does that get started? What is a typical amount that gets invested at that level and how does one find those investment opportunities?

Be a founder. Or do you have very specialized knowledge in particular industry niche like robotics in manufacturing, etc. that can be helpful for founders?
I wish but unfortunately not. I have some decent fintech-specific experience but that's as niche as it gets.

Do a start up. Early stage. Either founder or founding team. Get good traction in 2 years
I'm not entrepreneurial enough to come up with those ideas on my own. My personality and skill set would fit well as COO, CFO, CSO, and some others, but not CEO. So my follow-up question is - what are some ways to connect with founders looking for a founding team?

Makes sense, but unfortunately I'm not in the right place in my life to leave my current job for a start-up salary. I would be willing to put in 10-20 hours a week (even unpaid) to another opportunity to build the experience, so that's what I would be looking for, unless I somehow can get a relatively similarly paying role right now.
