I'm interested in pivoting toward VC / corporate VC (e.g., Google Ventures, Amex Ventures), but don't think I have the right experience. What can I do over the next ~2 years to bridge that gap?

Current experience: 7 years in risk / product structuring (part of the trading desk) pre-MBA (top 15 undergrad), 5 years across consulting and internal strategy post MBA (top 15 MBA).

How do I jump ship from FP&A? My dream job used to be education or something more creative and I want to make that switch.

Does your undergrad school matter to MBA admissions? Does it make a difference if you have a great GPA from a state school or an average GPA from a highly selective school?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Any EU attorneys who went for an LL. M. in international commercial law (or other) in Europe?

If so have you found it "worth" the year of your time? I am currently working at a firm that specializes mostly on commercial law and has a lot of foreign clients. I have some options regarding the possible LL. M. One of them is little less prestigeous that would allow me to stay working at law firm as I am studying. I’ll start - I’m an advisor in Wealth Management with TC of $70k, 3 YOE and no side hustle. Among other things, rent just jumped from $2500 to $3700 for 2 bedroom and areas were looking at. I’d like to “make it” here but if it means switching career to make money I’d like to get an idea to make the right job change.

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!

So pissed! Paid tax firm $400 to file my taxes in 3 multiple states, they didn’t file my non resident NY tax efile saying i have to do it myself. Without providing the reason why and any instructions on how to do so, just saying it’s in its in the bundle prepared, just file it yourself. I cant even figure out how to file it on my own. 401(k) gurus - If I switched jobs in 2020, does the $19.5k pretax 401(k) contribution limit apply to each plan or is it across plans? Also, does it matter if my spouse (joint filing) is self employed and bootstrapping and is not enrolled in a 401(k) plan?
