I'm looking for appropriate Black History Month books for 1st and 2nd grade readers, though I'll take older student recommendations too for my quick readers. We have a few like the ABC's of Black history etc but that's it.

Brown Boy Joy by Thomishia Booker. Hair Love by Matthew A Perry (there's a video short/movie for this one too). Also, Our Skin by Megan Madison is a great way to have an age appropriate conversation about race with your students.

You could do the Ordinary People Change the World Series all year.

There are plenty of books to do during Black History Month

"I Am John Lewis"
"I Am Rosa Parks"
"I Am Jackie Robinson"
etc.

There are other books you could do for Women's History Month

Ruby bridges by herself, Martin's big words by Doreen Rappaport, the undefeated by Kwame Alexander, Who is Barack Obama?? By Roberta Edward's, I am Martin Luther king, by Brad Meltzer, I have a Dream by kadir Nelson

I am Harriet Tubman by Brad Meltzer, DREAM BIG, LITTLE ONE BY VASHITI HARRISON

Counting on Katerine: How Katerine Johnson saved Apollo 13 by Helaine Becker

I used to be really bad about not prioritizing my prayer life. But now I pray & talk to God all the time. I’ve seen what prayer does-it can change the trajectory of your life. God tells us to make our prayers & petitions known to Him & to pray without ceasing. What happens when we pray is absolutely incredible. The Holy Spirit within us interprets our groans & our prayers to our advocate Jesus Christ who petitions God the Father on our behalf. The perfect triune God hears my prayers and yours!

Considering a move from NYC to SF and my office will be in Palo Alto. Any advice on potential neighborhoods to live in without needing a car? Would ideally like to live in SF as I’m single and still looking to explore the city. Would the commute via public transit be terrible? Perspectives from former New Yorkers would be great too. Have been on the East Coast my whole life and don’t know too much about the Bay lol

I got an email last night from a 7th-grade parent because her son said I mentioned the words "male privilege" in class, and she is very concerned about how that is related to ELA (she said "reading"), and she is concerned about this being taught in public schools. To be clear, I didn't do a lesson on this subject but we did discuss rights versus privileges. I've had multiple parents contact the school/get upset with me because of things like his. It's exhausting... Thoughts?
