I'm new to freelancing, and trying to find projects using Upwork. It seems like more of a waste of money than not... I’m spending a ton on Connects but getting no views or jobs. It feels like they only care about selling us credits. How can you tell if a job post is actually real before you apply?

Does your firm give you credit for hours that were written off? Sometimes I feel if you don’t lose anything for hours cut from the bill, you have incentives not to be 100% honest w/ your timesheet.

Recently got a contract job at Facebook NY. I’ve come to a point where I just started at the green dot on my laptop camera when talking. I want to do the Errol Morris interrotron to get some sort of connection. The lack of eye contact or staring off to the side from other participants makes me think they have high anxiety or on the spectrum like rain man.

When you’re asked about your rate, do you include weekend / holiday rates upfront? Or do you wait until it comes up after you’ve started? New to this, so please be kind.
