I’m noticing how hard it is to change specialties once you’ve been in one area a while. Hiring managers seem to prefer direct unit experience even when core skills overlap. It makes early choices feel permanent. Did anyone switch specialties mid-career?

I have an active secret clearance, BS in strategic intelligence, working on a masters in cybersecurity, and taking Security+ in December. No work experience in cyber, just my education and bootcamp course for Security+. Should I still apply for job that want 2-5+ years cyber experience and/or an active TS clearance?

Question: an employee was asked by his boss for same day turn around on responses/deliverables on a days he requested PTO. He completed the work. The manager wants to know if she can still deduct PTO time for the days requested, even though he completed work on those days. Help.
