I don't think having a skillset necessarily means you're confident in every aspect of your life. I see nurses asking that same question and yeah, they can keep people alive in an emergency, but negotiating a salary is an entirely different thing. That's kind of why we're here, to get advice, work through imposter syndrome, and connect with each other.

agree with this!
It is obvious that some people are out of touch with what is going on in this current climate. Corporate has always been the survival of the fittest/hunger games... it has now turned into something far more cut throat.
Negotiations are not truly what they used to be. There are so many unemployed people competing for the same jobs that companies realize they have the upper hand now. If you truly ask to receive what you've worked so hard for, companies will just go to the most desperate candidate who will take what they can get.
Just because you are seeking leadership roles doesn't mean you are exempt from experiencing this level of treatment. Some people have been out of work for over a year and honestly it is simply coming down to who these companies can pay less to do more.
We all have something to learn from one another. No matter your skillset or status.
That's funny. I think in some cases people just want to know they're not the only person feeling befuddled going into a negotiation. And some of the anecdotes of negotiations can be instructive. No need to repeat someone else's mistakes.

Knowledge is power. Good leaders know they can learn from anyone. Maybe you should ask yourself why they know something you don't.
When I buy something I do two things, one is deconstruct the item to understand it's costs, the second is to undertake as best I can a benchmarking excercise. Since salary discussions are inevitably confidential this second point isn't terribly easy. Commenting on here to attempt to establish your potential worth would, in my professional world, simply be best practice to develop your understanding of the negotiating arena. Perhaps, since you are so quick to belittle others, you'd like to give us the benefit of your advice?
There are THOUSANDS of people here that love to give their opinions and most of them are valid. Giving experience and expertise freely is awesome and should be praised... Don't be a Nancy.
Companies aren't afraid to lowball you, so we shouldn't be afraid to ask for help not to get ripped off. God bless.
how does one be "severely afraid"?
