I heard good things about the mini drivers from TM or even people using 5 woods instead of a hybrid
I personally use a 4 hybrid around 220-230 range (ping g 425) and 3 wood around 250+
Was going to comment the same. The TM BRNR Mini Driver seems to be getting a ton of positive reviews.
Hit them and see what works best. Can’t beat empirical data
If you are 290-300 off the tee, I’m assuming you have either a 3 wood or 5 wood in between your 3 iron and driver, which is a major gap in your bag.
I game a 3 hybrid (ping g425) cooked down to 17 degrees and a 3 wood (Taylormade Sim 2 Titanium) cooked down to 13.5 degrees. Depending on the shot shape I want, I feel confident I can hit any yardages in between my 4 iron and driver.
Highly recommend going to a pro to get a fitting. Workers at a place like Golf Galaxy/PGA Superstore can read numbers on a track man, but don’t know how to interpret them. I have a buddy that is a fitter at golf Galaxy and god love him, but he really shouldn’t be fitting people for clubs lol.
I would start with those lofts or +/- 1.5 degrees in that window!!
Yeah haha, a pro will be more expensive, but it is 100% worth it!
A typical 3 hybrid will be 21 degrees loft which is the same as most 3 iron sets these days. I’d look up the spec on your current 3 iron (if you don’t know it already) and hit a hybrid with similar loft. I’m confident it will launch higher and go farther.
If you are looking to close a yardage gap then move one direction or the other in loft.
As others said you likely have a fairway metal in between your driver and 3 iron currently so work off that gapping as well.
You’re spot on. It’s a mizimo with 21st loft.
Sounds like we play a similar game. I’m going to come out of left field and say consider a 7 wood. I had the TSi3 3 hybrid, which I still use when it’s windy to be fair, but it was a bit too low for some long par5 approaches. I moved to the tsi3 18 and set it b4 so +1.5 deg and it flies a ton higher so it’s money on approach shots.
I play to about a 5-6, not as good as I used to be before kids.
I would go for a hybrid - more forgiveness from tight/difficult lies and more feel than a wood. Highly recommend TM Stealth hybrid - ridiculously forgiving and easy to hit with some shot shaping in between. I carry a 3H - 21 degrees. Another option I like is Cobra.
Yeah go to a place with a trackman
When I refreshed I went with the same style as my driver (Callaway XR) for my hybrid since I liked the feel of the driver. At least convinced myself that the consistency was helpful

always hit bombs with my ping woods
I’m about 280 off the tee and carry a
15° 3 wood and a 18° hybrid, then a 4 iron. The yardage gaps are manageable
