I’m stuck in career and need some advice for what to do next. I have a background in SALT where I did compliance, state tax notices, fin 48 calcs, and a little bit of restructuring. I was fortunate to land a role as a senior accountant but I don’t want to be a controller. So I’m thinking should I just go back to tax (I feel like I left because I wasn’t getting the proper training and mentor ship to succeed in the career). I’m also thinking should I pursue my MBA and switch over to finance to ...

Get into finance instead. I had an internship in finance as a financial controller at an investment bank which I enjoyed. I’m so confused. I love the aspect of research, modeling, and working with numbers which makes me say maybe tax was a good fit for you but you were too young to realize because of all the long hours. Help!!!!

The actual day to day of each job will change as you go through your career. Find what interests you and go for it.

If you are interested in West Michigan and going back to SALT, let me know as I am looking for help.

I spent 2 years as an SE at my current company and was offered a job at the same company to lead our tech partnerships. I was pumped about the role and increased my OTE by 20%.

After 4 months, the culture of this team is entirely different than sales. My manager micromanages me, is out of touch, and threatened me for having passion projects outside of work.

Do I stick it out and deal with the anxiety, move on from the company I love, or take an AE job that is on the table and blow it up?

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?
