Salary. I’ve been in this business long enough to know there will be times when I’ll need to work nights or weekends - I have pride in my work, so if I need to put in extra time ( my choice), I do.
Therefore, I want a salary high enough that I never have to feel like I’m underpaid for the hours I put in.
Any of the above… though I’m not sure “fight” is looking at it through the right lens… seems like it’s setting boundaries and knowing your priorities. I think it comes down to what is most important to you in the overall context of your life/long-term happiness, and what are you willing to sacrifice to achieve that?
Kind of like that maxim we tell clients of “good, fast, cheap. choose two.” You could say “pay, balance, famous work. Choose two.” And it’s ok if what’s important changes over the course of your career.
(This was one of the reasons i ended up going freelance btw , to have more control over those things… and there are times when its great and times when it’s not but at least i can look at it as what I chose got me here)
Fighting against your global holding company-owned agency is very optimistic. We are all so dependably expendable.
