Managers in Big firms don't generally ask such questions daily. I give my team task with timelines and never ask for daily updates. I have to trust then, of course I keep a buffer. This daily update depends on your reporting manager tbh

I think if company follows Agile, there will be stand up meeting. But OP is asking about no question at all, there is no job where you are questioned. Even CEO,CFO are also answerable.

If you are irritated by daily standup, then that's a different story. Go and become scrum master probably then instead of answering you can ask questions.
