These comments are honestly twisted. If you don’t know the difference between what happened to Charlie Kirk and what happened to George Floyd, there is zero reason to try to educate you. Sad how many in this country think.

To be honest, I don’t like the virtue signaling statements on the left either, but I don’t see a double standard.

B4 have done a lot to cozy up to the current administration (normal — happens every time there’s a shift in parties at all major corporations) and DEI efforts are being deprioritized and rebranded at all four.

I honestly think if this had happened on a Monday you would have seen statements. But with the timing of when it happened it was unclear what the reaction would be. Corporate played it safe and by the time the hagiography had been written, it was already the next week and it would have been way too obvious to publish something.

I have no doubt they’d fire me for posting that I think his murder was a horrible and completely unjustifiable event but that he was also a bad person and that his rhetoric contributed to the political climate that created a culture where people on the fringe resort to violence.

That’d be an overreaction just like firing someone for saying they don’t get the BLM movement would be. Standard seems to be the same: fire people who argue against the party in power’s position publicly in case it harms the ability to get government contracts.

By the time he’d been declared a martyr and all of his past sins whitewashed over, it was too late for corporate communications departments to put anything together.

For the record, his murder should be roundly condemned. But it took about 48 hours for the hagiography to be created and by then it’d look to much like corporate pandering so nothing came out.

I personally think we should remember him by plainly speaking about the views he plainly spoke about. Man was a huge negative for the United States. Doesn’t mean he deserved to die.

As one who didn’t know who he was before he was murdered, I did look up/hear the things he said. And trust me, I won’t forget the racism, misogyny and the white supremacy he spoke about. Nor the irony of saying a few deaths were worth it to protect the 2nd amendment rights. Still not saying his murdered was justified for any reason or acceptable. But just because people don’t mourn him it doesn’t mean we hate him. No one has to like or agree with what others say.

I mean, we should know what that spin looks like by rote by now. They had to work a lot harder to (try to) make this guy who loudly, frequently, and publicly called school kids unfortunate but acceptable collateral damage for 2nd amendment and meanwhile advocated concentration camps for people who disagreed with him and support the 1st amendment L👀K like the victim when some guy with the same appearance came after him on his own principles. Much harder to keep on keepin on when your party’s ideology has historically eaten its own.
