In the Navy, there’s a thing called collecting coins. I’ve been given three coins, but since they were all during the duration of the shittiest command I’ve ever seen I’ve been throwing them in the trash. Those coins mean nothing cause I really don’t feel any emotional attachment to them and there’s an awkward silence of me being tolerated instead of celebrated so the less I have in my possession as a memory of this place the better.

Any potential hangups? I'd rather not tip him off ahead of time if possible as he'd probably be embarrassed to accept it but also don't want it to get lost or for him to not be able to access it for any reason.
