In the span of 3 weeks it’s the wife’s birthday, she got her masters, and we just found out we’re pregnant with our second. Need a pretty good gift that’s not a trip. "No budget”...

Congrats OP. Jewellery sounds like the appropriate gift in this situation - something she can wear and remember when she got it. Don’t know her preference but classy diamond earrings or necklace have been my go to for the Mrs

Personalized gift. I did a pillow with our important dates(if this is expected to be last one). Or nice dinner and child care (for the first). Spa day?

But having a second kid so not looking to break the bank 🙃

Will second the jewelry. Could look at a charm bracelet too

How about a high end bag? Prada/ LV/Burberry.

An engraved watch? Baume & Mercier for example?

Totally depends on the wife. Mine is a teacher. She doesn't care for kitsch (Pandora charms, pillows, etc). A nice spa day after she gets through the critical phase (first trimester), a box subscription service like Murray's Cheese or The Strand might be nice. Keeps her looking forward to the next installment :)

Hi guys

This question may not be related. However I wanted to know from personal and family point of view how it is like to relocate from India and live abroad .
Let's say Family consists of husband , wife and a kid . I understand we will get good facilities, education, cleanliness , good air etc , however I wanted to check whether people gel up easily in the new environment? Don't they feel loneliness/ difficult to adjust? Do they look for similar asian nationalities to kill boredom?

My friend’s parent’s jewelry store has a Bluesy (ref 16613) in “like new” condition + box from 2008 for 10k. I had been contemplating buying a Rolex, but wasn’t super set on it. Is this a solid deal? Chrono24 seems to have couple years older ones for around 8-10k in very good/with papers, so not sure if I should keep shopping around

This will be my first time gig in India after working abroad and also a first time consulting opportunity.

Banks have been expanding parental leave policies with some offering the same amount of time to both primary and secondary parents. Do you think your company provides sufficient time off? Most importantly, would you be willing to take the full amount of time - without fearing repercussions?

My mother is going to get retired from her government job next week and will recieve her one time payout of close to 90 lakhs by the end of the month
The amount is non taxable but any profit earned from the amount will be taxable. Where should the amount be invested?(next 8-10 year horizon)
1. Buying a 3 bhk flat for around 95 lakhs in Sec 31 Gurgaon.
2. Put all the money in FD and live off of interest.

It only took me 7 years to figure this system out.... posting in case it helps anyone else! I color coded my classes and printed off numbers according to the number of kids in my classes. I then assign each kid a number that corresponds with my gradebook. When they turn in their projects, they put their number with it. This way, no contact and I can easily see who has and hasn't turned in their projects yet. I take the list down once they remember their number.

What would u do in this "hypothetical" scenario.
1. Student gets 95 percentile on standardized tests in 1st grade.
2. 2nd gr teacher, capable and flexible but a little old school.
3. Parent, from foreign country, wants us to teach 2 years ahead of where student is at in math and reading in case they have to return to other country.
4. District's old standard for acceleration is at the 97th+ percentile and other students are much more"advanced".
5. Parent wants detailed steps for teacher's plan

Someone please tell me that I can get a rear facing child seat in the back of a mustang… otherwise it looks like I’ll have to buy a new family car to drive the little one around (wife doesn’t drive unfortunately).

Could be a good excuse to get a Taycan but was hoping I could just stick with my mustang. We said next car will be an EV didn’t think it would be so soon though!

For example - How am I going to know what to pay for our child’s education in the future etc?
