International arbitration people: I understand that lawyers practicing in France usually specialize in ICC proceedings, Londoners in LCIA. Where are the lawyers usually arguing before the PCA generally located?

I disagree with your comments about specialization, especially in the context of ICC arbitration. The ICC Rules are the most widely used in international commercial arbitration, and counsel in ICC cases come from everywhere. PCA proceedings are similar—no single city dominates.

like

Agreed - the beauty of IA is that the user pool of respective institutions spread far and wide. That said, the standard arbitration centres do their surveys and usually share general user data, including user state origins.

The question is if PCA does this...I'd doubt it though.

The UNCTAD Investment Policy Hub database makes it possible to filter disputes by administering institution, so it’s easy to generate summary data about state parties for PCA arbitrations. But to OP’s question, I don’t think they track the cities in which counsel are based. OP could take a look at a handful of PCA awards (which will list counsel’s office address) to get a sense of the range of locations.

I am able to pay the bills with my hourly defense work, which gives me time to focus on a handful of high value PI case a year on contingency. It may seem obvious, but in my experience partners value trial experience over anything else, so get it however you can. For example, my firm will favor a former prosecutor who has seen the courtroom a lot but has no civil litigation experience (not even a depo) over a seasoned associate who has only second chaired cases with a partner but hasn’t tried a case. Even trying a case and losing gives you credibility at my firm because you still did it.
