Hi folks,
Please reply me if you are working in Capgemini , Talwade or have a good knowledge about the nearby area like bus stops, how to get to pune station, where to live. I have to see where to find accommodation accordingly.
PS: I don't have my own vehicle and totally relying on buses trains metros
Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

Tell them that you've heard they suffer from 1) tons of staff augmentation work, 2) no real company culture, 3) lack of communication and collaboration across markets, 4) lack of accelerators (templates, methodologies), 5) lack of professional development outside of "check-the-box" style technical certifications, 6) poor delivery quality, and 7) almost zero thought leadership. Ask them what they plan to do to address these concerns.
Expect staff aug & everyone is the “same” mentality (downside of regional/local) model....but don’t take my word for it
Ouch! D1 I agree with you that most of those items are development areas that we are working hard to address, except for culture, I think our culture is very good compared to other firms.
As a $1B business across 20 cities, we are not at the maturity of an Accenture or a Deloitte. You come to Slalom if you are willing to roll your sleeves up and help us grow and mature.
That said we are much larger and more mature than our boutique competitors. We are seen as leaders, and key partners in many areas (Digital Strategy, UX, Cloud, analytics).
To your point about fragmentation, true with our local office model, your experience will have a lot to do with local capabilities and demand. It’s important to evaluate if Slalom (insert city here) is a good fit for what you are interested in doing.
OP, what office are you interviewing with?
Slalom is such a mixed bag of misdirection and lies. On the one hand, they tell you that you only work 40 hours a week (work life balance!) while at the same time saying you need to “grow the practice” , which is consistent with post above. So do I do that in my 40 hours? Don’t think so. Also, you will lose your title, and since they “don’t do titles” what’s your exit opp? 7 year “consultant” doesn’t sound nearly as good as “senior manager” coming from more traditional firm. Source: had 7 “interviews” and each one had a different story
Oh, and you'll hate it if you don't want to work on what you love. See a lack of Thought Leadership material in an area? Fire up your brain and write it. You don't have to ask permission to make contributions.
It all depends on the office. Houston has the issues D1 stated. St. Louis and Chicago don't, for example. More people absolutely love their job here than any other place I've worked, and I've been at 2 of the Big 4 and an Innovation focused product shop. So the story varies pretty wildly depending on where you want to live.
And yes, the titles are different, but they're not totally flat. They're also a bit different at each office. Seattle is rife with Principals and Managers, whereas Minneapolis isn't.
Meet the GM, get her perspective. In the end, it's her shop.
I hear Portland has its shit together. And Seattle is rad afaik. Those two options are pretty desirable.
@slalom 1 Portland or Seattle
Seattle is a huge mature office that includes HQ.
Portland is a small market with a few key accounts.
What would you guys say about Chicago's office? Pretty organized? Are the benefits really that bad?
Chicago office is one of the top few in the network. Benefits are relative I suppose. Everything was a step up for me, but I came from boutique. Well, everything but the 401k match, which isn't good.
And the benefits aren't gonna be a factor for you if you join for the right reasons.
