I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Those are fantastic offers! Congrats to you both! Ok if I DM you both for 'deep dive' on your experience? @Director1 @Apps Associate?
Recruiter will only really be table to talk ranges... the recruiter has a list of keywords they need to look out for when you talk with them. They have absolutely no idea what you will be doing. Just passing you along to the real decision makers if you say the keywords they are looking for. Hiring manager will be able to filter the range down to a more specific level based on your experience and how bad they want you. They are the ones who will be negotiating your compensation to the C-level folks.
Typically when do you have compensation conversation? Recruiter stage? Offer stage?
I talked to recruiter, seems like I goofed up.
If you are still moving forward and they know your ranges, I wouldn't worry. Your decision maker is hiring manager. You need to make sure they like you. Unless you're worried you low balled yourself?
Also - compensation has come up for me during recruiter stage... and then again at offer stage. First is to see if they can even match your expectation. You dont have to answer but just know you could go thru process and it's not a fit if too low. Second is to firm up... that's usually the real deal but would be guided by range you mentioned to recruiter if you did so.
I need some guidance for resume review. Did you used anyone/any service for the same?
