"I know Crowe laid off about 500 people on Tax Day (right after the deadline) and I love to work in a challenging envirnment."
Accurate 👌🏼
Its the best bird
Play Goldilocks. You don't want a firm that's too big or one that's too small. Say something about how the big firms are too big for what you want to do. You don't want to hyperspecialize or be a number, but you still want to do challenging work for interesting clients. You don't want to go to a small mom-and-pop firm because you don't want to be a complete generalist, either. You want to be able to get to know all your colleagues in all departments, so you can better serve clients, and cross-sell when opportunities arise. Etc.
If you feed them regularly they bring you gifts.
I recommend complimenting them. Tell them that you heard a lot about them while you were at BDO and they were known for their quality work and great team environment. Make them think that their name came up a lot at BDO because they were such tough competition and had such a fantastic reputation. Everyone loves a compliment. Don’t tear down BDO in the process. Tell them you learned a lot at BDO and you are excited about the opportunity to work at Crowe. Be sure you have also done your homework and followed the advice of the others on this board. Good luck!
Whatever happens, I hope these aren't running through your head as you're desperate for an answer:
If you know, you Crowe!
Crowe go woah.
If you build it, they will Crowe.
Crowe ain't slow.
Chief
Why not?

Imagine finding a way to downgrade from BDO
Rising Star
Of course, just playing around. Maybe look into their growth and mention wanting to be a part of that? If you know anyone there, point to their positive experiences and how you want that for your career as well. Other than that, it's a PA firm just like the rest. Good luck.
You enjoy working with middle market clients as you’re able to be more of a value added advisor while still encountering sophisticated issues and processes.
Rising Star
Ask about how they did in the playoffs
Look at what diversity and inclusion initiatives they have, any articles or webinar they put out in your industry, their LinkedIn. I don't know why anyone joins Crowe but you can make up an answer from there
I’m not sure if it’s any different from BDO. It’s a little smaller but otherwise I’ve heard much the same.
" I like eating and having an apartment"
What group/industry are you applying for? You could say something about all the technology initiative, want to work for a firm that focuses on the future of audit, something like that. When I was interviewing (in college, mind you) I would just peruse the firm website for common themes and make something up to refer to those to show I had done my research
Appreciate the jokes guys, but really need some help, if anyone can provide assistance please share your thoughts!
In all seriousness reach out to a mentor read the interview reviews on glassdoor and fein enthusiasm about challenging tax work
If you need help answering this question, you probably shouldn't go. Shouldn't be that hard to come up with one positive about a firm you're applying to.
What office?👀👀👀
What are you are interested in doing - tax, audit, consulting ? Industry specialty? Office location? What are you trying to improve by transitioning firms? Happy to help but need some details
