Is HARMAN really recruiting for permanent remote roles? Would they ask us to come to office after sometime? I am a bachelor woman supporting my sickly parents and can't move them out of city. And my city don't have harman office. HR did mention permanent remote, still want to confirm as I've heard many cases people were called back across different product based companies. Probably. I have seen Debevoise staff attorneys promoted to associate. If nothing else, you may be able to get an on-track postion someplace else.
Is this law firm in NYC? If so, I think 120k is kinda low.
Well, the recruiter had said $120K base. So maybe there’s other forms that bump it up? Something I’ll have to flesh out in the interview process.
Many others have said this on similar posts but it is not a viable path into big law. You will likely be staffed on similar projects to first year attorneys but paid less than half of their total comp. Those attorneys will progress to more sophisticated work while you likely will not be given similar opportunities. It will also make it increasingly difficult to break into an associate role with staff attorney on your resume, as it is seen as a “lesser” position. With that in mind, I would say it is not worth the money for someone hoping to have a career as an investment management associate. If the mundane work and career implications don’t bother you, what do you have to lose? 120k is better than a lot of regional firms in tertiary markets pay.
Recruiter 1, would love to chat with you on this
What are the billable hours for $120k?
Great question. Hoping to find out during the interview but would like to hear others with knowledge on the question.
My previous firms staff attorneys got paid at the first year salary but their hours were ☠️ (2000+ easily, stayiny up until 3, 4 am regularly). They were also promoted to an associate level fairly quickly too
In that case, the separation does not do much…
